With the Backbone Pro, it's easier than ever to game between surfaces. Using a Bluetooth connection, you can wirelessly connect your controller to your tablet, PC, Mac, and many other devices.
Pairing a New Device:
- Press and hold the Pair button located on the bottom left of the controller, next to the headphone port (see image above). The LED surrounding the orange Backbone button will begin to blink quickly. If the LED does not illuminate, you may need to charge the battery.
- On your device, navigate to your Bluetooth settings menu and select Backbone Pro.
- You should then see a Bluetooth pairing request message. Select Pair, and you're all set!
Pairing a New Device using the Backbone App:
You can also pair a device within the Backbone app. This method is useful when pairing multiple devices to your Backbone Pro controller.
- From the Backbone app, navigate to the Controller Center by clicking the group of icons in the top right corner.
- Click Turn on pairing to initiate the Backbone Pro's pairing mode. You can also click this again to cancel pairing mode.
- On your device, go to your Bluetooth settings and search for Backbone Pro. Select it to complete the pairing process.
- Your Backbone Pro will now be connected to the device, and the Backbone app will indicate that the device is currently being controlled.
- Press the red button with the name of the device that is being controlled to disconnect.
- You'll then be brought back to the main Controller Center screen with your new device appearing in the device list.
Additional Tips
- Backbone Pro currently only supports BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)
- To turn on the Backbone Pro, press the orange Backbone button or the Pair button.
- The Backbone Pro will always attempt to connect to the most recently paired device. Use the Controller Center in the Backbone app if you need to specify which device you'd like to connect to.
- When you're not using the Backbone Pro, it saves battery life by automatically shutting off. You can manually turn the controller off by holding the orange Backbone button until the LED is no longer illuminated.
- A fully charged Backbone Pro will provide up to 40 hours of wireless gameplay.
- The Bluetooth connection should stay stable within a range of 30 feet. This is based on a typical user environment – other factors could shorten this distance.
- A Backbone+ subscription is not required to Play On Any Screen with a Bluetooth connection on the Backbone Pro.
