Yes! The Backbone app on both iOS and Android has support for 3rd party controllers via Docked, Wired, and Wireless (BLE) connections. This means you can bring any controller, or no controller at all with you to the Backbone app.

How to map the home button of your controller to open the Backbone App on iOS
Go to settings -> General -> Game Controller -> Controller Shortcuts. Select “Other App” and choose Backbone from the list. Your controller will now open the Backbone App when you tap the home button.
Note: This setting maps your home button to open the Backbone app. This does not map your home button to function as the Backbone button.
