You can use your Backbone with other devices like iPad, tablets, Mac, and PC to play your favorite games and services like Xbox Cloud Gaming. Wired Mode (Play On Any Screen) is available on both Backbone One and Backbone Pro controllers.
To use this feature, connect your Backbone to your chosen device using an MFi-certified USB cable (MFi is required for iPhone) that connects to the Backbone charging port and your device. Once plugged into your chosen device, the orange Backbone button on your controller will:
- Glow solid blue (Backbone One) to indicate that it's being used with another device.
- Blink Orange (Backbone Pro) to indicate that the device is receiving power from another device.
Additional Tips
- A Backbone+ subscription is not required to use Wired Mode (Play On Any Screen).
- We've optimized the latency and performance for each device. With this feature, the end-to-end input latency is best in class, lower than traditional Bluetooth controllers, making it optimal for cloud gaming.
- The USB-C port on the bottom of the Backbone controller does not transmit video/audio data, so it is unable to display this information on an external device. (Casting your phone's screen directly to an external display, for example.)
